Darren comes from a background of over 40 years in the care sector. Throughout his career Darren has worked in a wide range of care settings, including elderly care, supporting those with mental health issues, people with physical and/or learning disabilities and homeless people. The experience and knowledge gained allowed him to work his way up from Support Worker to a Senior Carer, Deputy Manager, Registered Manager and now he joins us as our Area Manager for Norfolk.
For Darren, it’s about playing an active role in setting up new and overseeing existing supported living homes and residential care villages. Seeing the many benefits these services bring to the individual living there, and the way the homes are structured to enable tenants and residents to live a better quality and enhanced way of life has always filled Darren with a sense of pride and achievement. Offering users new opportunities and experiences, enabling them to make their own choices and decisions, integrate socially and be a part of their community, all whilst promoting their independence are the crux of what he strives to deliver.
In his spare time, Darren enjoys interior and exterior design, and infuses some of that creativity into his beloved garden – to which he can often be found tending. If not in the garden, he’ll be found spending quality time with family, who mean the world to him.
